Joel Mejia

Mr. Mejia is a professional teaching artist, entrepreneur, and activist. He is a son of immigrants from the Dominican Republic, a husband for 5 years, and the father of a beautiful daughter. A graduate of Graphic Arts High School and Lehman College (B.A., Economics), he has spent the last 20 years exploring the intersection between media, social change, the arts, humanities, and economics – all in the pursuit of truth and justice, which fuels his creativity and work as an educator. Always open to exploring different mediums to express himself, he currently prefers films, music, and transmedia content as modalities for social change. In 2006, Mr. Mejia founded Things Are Changing Productions, which he currently runs with his wife with the mission of producing socially conscious content for fellow seekers of truth.

Katy Walker Mejia

Katy Walker Mejia is a Bronx based educator, mother, musician and filmmaker that received a Bachelor of Arts degree in Transmedia from the University of Texas at Austin. She has worked as an Art Director for clients such from Carol’s Daughter (natural beauty products) to HBO. She has always seen herself as a multidisciplinary artist. She and her husband Joel also create genre-defying music together as Dream Circle which is also featured in their projects.  Her first short films were screened at the Dallas Video Fest, SXSW, the Red Hook International Film & Video Fest, the International Film Festival of Cinematic Arts, and the Radar International Independent Film Fest. She loves to produce, direct, edit, write, shoot, compose music and design. She and her husband produce music videos and documentary projects. Their first feature documentary film, Time is Art: Synchronicity & the Collective Dream  (2015) has been screened in theaters all over the world and was an official selection 2015 Chicago Blow-up International Arthouse Film Festival. The film was self-released via Vimeo/VHX, on DVD and includes bonus scenes on Blu-ray. The film is now also available in Amazon Video (US & UK).  Portfolio / Twitter
